Hello and happy Friday! My name is Dr. Ryan Shelton and today, just like every other Friday, I’m going to be answering two skincare questions from customers like you! My first question of the day comes from Penny in Nashville, TN.
Q: Hi Dr. Ryan, I have some really deep forehead lines that I’ve had for a long time but nothing I use helps them. Do you have any recommendations?
A: Hi Penny! Thanks for coming to me for advice about this. I definitely have some great tips to help you decrease the appearance of the forehead wrinkles you’re struggling with.
The truth is, a lot of people have the very same lines that you’re talking about, so you’re not alone in being frustrated by them.
Before we get into how to make them appear less visible, I want to make sure you manage your expectations on how much better they’re going to get.
If you’ve had them since you were young, chances are they are not totally due to aging and are just from the natural structure of your face, so you may not be able to get rid of them completely.
Luckily, there are a lot of things you can do to make them less obvious!
First things first, make sure you’re using peptides in your routine. The reason your wrinkles are getting so deep is because of the breakdown of collagen in your skin.
Peptides like the ones in my Repair and Release Cream are going to help your skin create more collagen, which will stop those wrinkles from looking so deep and sticking out like a sore thumb!
Next, keep your skin hydrated as much as you can. Dry skin only makes for more visible wrinkles, so using a product that helps keep your skin moisturized and protected is an absolute must, in my professional opinion.
Once you start doing both of these things, you’ll start to notice a real difference in your skin and hopefully, you’ll start to feel less frustrated by the lines in your forehead!
My next question comes from Martha in Phoenix, AZ
Q: Hi Dr. Shelton! I recently bought a foundation that says it has skincare ingredients inside it that help keep your skin healthy and hydrated. Does this mean I don’t have to remove it before I go to bed at night?
A: Hi Martha! This is a great question and I’m so glad you asked it because a lot of people get confused by these kinds of products. The short answer is no, you shouldn’t skip removing this foundation before bed.
There are so many makeup products out there that have some great ingredients that could help your skin, but they still have a lot of other ingredients that you don’t want to leave on for an extended time.
That’s because makeup is known to have ingredients that clog your skin and prevent it from getting enough oxygen to stay healthy and glowing.
Sleeping with makeup on, regardless of the brand or product, is something you want to avoid at all costs.
In fact, it can cause a lot of damage to your complexion and create a lot of very visible problems that you just don’t want to deal with.
Instead, make sure you’re cleansing your skin with a gentle but powerful cleanser every night before you go to bed.
It also helps to have a cleanser that has antibacterial ingredients - like my Lavender Oil Cleanser.
This will help keep your skin free from not only dirt and impurities but also harmful bacteria that have landed on your face throughout the day.
Keeping your skin clean is not only going to help it look and feel gorgeous and radiant, but it will also help your complexion stay healthy for longer.
Whether you’re wearing makeup or not, it’s never a good idea to skip your cleanser at night, so make sure this is a routine that you stick to as much as you can!
